TTS04/TTS05 RampTester SW V2.3

Control software for the Funkwerk Avionics SSR Transponder Ramptester TTS05. This software will only run in conjunction with the mentioned tester hardware. Its use requires a software license. Existing licenses are valid for this version as well.

Version 2.3 removes the following issues:
1. occasional problems in the SLS test with certain HW Units

To install the software:
1. download and unzip the file
2. start the included setup program 'TTS05_Setup.exe'

Concept Definition for a Comparative Data Link Performance Test Campaign

This task encompassed development of the objectives, the concept, the detailed test approach and the tools for a test campaign in which different Data Link Media (AMSS, Mode S and VHF Modes 2 and 4) were benchmarked and evaluated in terms of their respective capabilities.

In this task it was necessary to integrate existing implementations of the Aeronautical Mobile Satellite Service AMSS and of Mode S together with an entire ATN protocol stack in order to produce ATN integrated application layer services (e.g. CPDLC) for a controller pilot simulation facility.

AIS

The Universal Shipborne Automatic Identification System (AIS) has been
introduced some while ago. Based upon our experience in the Air traffic
Control testing and analysis business, we have developed software for the
testing of AIS transponders and of AIS installations.

AIS Monitor

Overall Setup

The CIMS AIS Monitor permits the reception and analysis of AIS signals in two ways:

by displaying the AIS message data for a selected AIS transmitting station in plain text
by determining potential inconsistencies of the AIS data and logging thereof in a file

The AIS Monitor uses an independent receiver to receive the AIS signals on two frequencies. A list of received ship transponders is built and displayed for selecting a particular candidate for the display of the message data
contents.

After the selection of a particular ship, the message data of that ship is continuously updated and displayed thus facilitating the analysis and troubleshooting in case of observed problems.

In parallel to the display of selected ship data on the user interface, the message data of all ships received is checked for consistency (e.g. indication of speed while reporting moored). Those AIS stations which seem to report inconsistent data are flagged in the list of received stations. In parallel a detected inconsistency will be logged with a timestamp and a report of the inconsistency. This permits later analysis for typical problems and also the identification of ship installations with potential deficiencies

The basic setup is shown in the following figure:

The AIS Monitor consists of an AIS receiver and PC software. The receiver and the PC are coupled with a serial line interface, by which the received data is transferred to the PC software.

The PC software controls the receiver and decodes the received data. The software runs under Win NT / 2000 and XP.

The receiver either needs to be connected to an antenna line or can be connected to its own receiving antenna.
